73 Dhading sand processing industries to shut down

DHADING: Dhading district monitoring committee has decided to shut down more than 70 sand processing industries operating illegally and evading tax for years in the district. A meeting of the monitoring committee held today at Dhadingbesi took decided to this effect. As many as 73 sand processing industries are operating at Baireni, Pida and Gajuri VDCs. There are 34, 36 and three sand processing industries operating illegally at Baireni, Pida and Gajuri VDCs respectively, district monitoring committee coordinator and CDO Dipak Raj Nepal said. A member of the monitoring committee said the committee had decided to close down the sand processing industries as 43 proprietors were operating them without registration. Traffic resumes along Prithvi Highway

  DHADING: After seven hours of obstructed due to landslides, the Machhedikhola-Baireni road section along the Prithvi Highway has come into one-way operation this morning. The traffic, which was obstructed since 3 am as incessant rainfall triggered landslides. reopened at 10 am today. Hundreds of vehicles and passengers were stranded along the highway.    KESHAV ADHIKARI   DHADING: Floods triggered by torrential rainfall has claimed a person's life in Salyankot of the district on Tuesday. According to the District Police Office, Dhanding, Pitta Bahadur Kandel (64) of Salyankot-4 was swamped away by the swollen Ansu River yesterday afternoon. The incident took place while he was trying to cross the River.     DHADING: Dhading is emerging as an ideal location for setting up LPG bottling plants.With major highways running through the district, the district has turned into an attractive site for entrepreneurs to set up gas plants. Nepal faction against electronic voting machines

0 KATHMANDU, JUL 06 - The CPN-UML faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal has rejected the party's decision to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the Central Committee (CC) election. The Nepal faction has expressed a serious reservation over the effort of the organising committee of the ongoing ninth UML National Congress to use the EVMs for election. 200 million rupees‚ 28 years not enough for road

Keshav Adhikari DHADING: Every year, a huge amount of fund is allocated for the Bhimdhunga-Lamidanda (Sitapaila-Galchhi) road but only a 45 kilometre stretch of the road has been completed in 28 years. Construction of the 52-km road had started as an alternative route to Naubise –Nagdhgunga road as monsoon rains damage the latter road every year and disrupt vehicular movement. With an aim to connect Sitapaila in Kathmandu with Galchhi in Dhading through Goganpani, Kewealpur, Jivanpur and Chhatredeurali, the road construction had started with support from the German Agency for Technical Cooperation around three decades ago. Strategic partner for Agricultural Development Bank

KATHMANDU - A total of 25 foreign banks are interested to become strategic partner of Agricultural Development Bank. These banks from China and other countries have demanded 51 percent share ownership but the government has taken a decision to sell only 31 percent of its stake of 51 percent in the bank. Chief Executive Officer of the bank Tej Bahadur Budathoki revealed that the 25 banks, that are in contact of the consultant appointed by the Finance Ministry and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), have expressed interest to become strategic partner. The government is preparing to rope in a stragegic partner for the bank, and preparation of the due diligence audit (DDA) of the bank is in the final stage. “We will complete special audit within mid-July. Dhading truck mishap kills two   

    DHADING: At least two persons died while a container truck fell off a road in Jogimara of Dhading on Friday morning. According to police, one of the deceased is identified as Binod Sah Kalbar of Kalaiya, Bara district. He was driver of the ill-fated vehicle (Na 5 Kha 1741). Identity of the other deceased, who is said to be the driver's assistant, is yet to be ascertained. Sub-health post runs 24-hour services

DHADING, MAY 08 - While many health institutions across the country are struggling to provide basic services to patients, a sub-health post in the district has managed to provide round-the-clock ambulance and maternity services to local people. The sub-health post at Salyankot-7 is the only rural health facility to provide such service in the district, according to the District Public Health Office (DPHO). “We have been able to provide 24-hour maternity service with assistance from the DPHO while the ambulance service has been operated at the initiative of local residents,” said Assistant Health Worker (AHW) Gyan Bahadur Dahal, incharge of the sub-health post. Govt declares 72 new municipalities (with list)

KATHMANDU, MAY 08 - The government has announced 72 newmunicipalities . A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday announced the new municipilities incluidng 41 declared earlier but unimplemented. The proposal was put forward by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development. With this announcement, the number of municipalities all over the country has reached to 130. However, the announcement of four proposed municipalities --Manthali of Ramechhap, Shankharapur of Kathmandu, Karya Binayak and Champapur of Lalitpur districts--could not take place due to criterion disputes.   The government has formed a Municipal Area Determination and Recommendation Committee under Professor Keshav Nanda Giri to settle the disputes and recommend the VDCs that fulfill the infrastructural criteria to be a municipality.   The..

Public bus crushes elderly to death in Dhading

     KESHAV ADHIKARI   DHADING: An elderly died when a passenger bus crushed him while he was about to board the vehicle on Wednesday morning. The bus (Na 2 Kha 1290) on the way to the district headquarters Dhadingbeshi from SunaulaBazaar crushed Rohini Prasad Pokharel (82) to death while he was just about to board the vehicle. Pokharel of SunaulaBazaar-7 was pushed under the rear tyre of the bus in the incident at around 11:30 am today. It has been learnt that he was on his way to receive monthly senior citizens allowance.
