DHADING: Police have arrested a youth for cheating women with a promise of marriage, from the headquarters of Dhading district, on Friday.

According to District Police Office (DPO), after an FIR was lodged by a woman of Koteshwor, Kathmandu accusing Santosh Karki (29) of swindling her of Rs 635,000, a police team nabbed him.

The woman had filed the complaint at the Metropolitan Police Range and it had deployed a team led by Inspector Om Prakash Wagle in plain clothes to nab the suspect.

Karki was a permanent resident of Lamumane in Tingla-6 of Solukhumbu district.

Police further said that Karki, with a fake name, earlier had published an advertisement on Kantipur national daily claiming that he could “rescue” widowed and divorced women.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the fraudulent man from a room of a woman, whom he had swindled of Rs 18,000 already.

Police have also confiscated  four tola gold ornaments, 45 tola silver ornaments, one Samsung mobile set and Rs 7,650 from him.

Karki would be sent to the Metropolitan Police Range for further investigations, stated DPO.
