KATHMANDU, FEB 25 – The State Affairs Committee of the Legislature Parliament has endorsed the Civil Service Bill (fourth amendment) to take action against the civil servants holding permanent residency in foreign countries.

The bill prepared by the Ministry of General Administration, which was under consideration at the State Affairs Committee , will now be presented before the full meeting of the Parliament. It will be enacted as a law only after it is approved by the House.

The bill aims to take action against civil servants acquiring residency in foreign countries in the form of PRs, green cards and DVs, discourage civil servants from taking up any other employment apart from their official work and establish special positions in civil service.

Ministry of General Administration Lalbabu Pandit registered the fourth amendment bill to the Civil Service Act 1993 in order to make the civil servants more disciplined and accountable.  Earlier, Minister Pandit had knocked on the door of President Ram Baran Yadav seeking help after the ruling parties themselves protested against the bill.
