According to police, the Shrestha couple were killed by a sharp weapon in July 2002 in their rented apartment in Ranibari, Kathmandu.
Informing the media about the investigation in the conference, police said that the Shrestha couple were killed in the incident although the killers had intended to kill the house owner Gita Khadka, who lived in the top floor of the house.
The assailants murdered the couple because they had to pass their apartment to reach the Khadka’s flat. The couple’s daughter Agyashree Shrestha was injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, Khadka managed to hide in the bathroom. The assailants escaped the scene as a commotion ensued outside the house. Khadka was involved sending people abroad on fake passports, informed police.
