DHADING: A woman died after a passenger bus knocked her down in Benighat of Dhading on Wednesday.

According to the Area Police Office, Gajuri, the deceased has been identified as Laxmi Gurung (28).

Police said that the incident occurred when the over speeding bus (Na 5 Kha 4163) heading towards Jhapa from Kathmandu via Prithvi Highway hit her near the Gomati River, Benighat Village Development Committee-8 at around 7:30 am today.

Following the incident, angered locals vandalised the bus and obstructed the road section.

The traffic movements resumed after police and bus entrepreneur reached an understanding to provide compensation to the deceased’s family.

Police have impounded the bus and arrested its driver for investigation.
