KATHMANDU – Nepal has climbed two steps to rank 110 in the Global Gender Gap Index published by the World Economic Forum. The progress in decreasing the gender gap has been lethargic due to the stagnant progress in education and economy.

The positive side of the report is that Nepal has improved its ranking in the field of health and politics to minimize the gender gap. The four indexes that the WEP analyze are health, education, politics, and economy.

Nepal ranked 111 out of 115 countries in 2006. The current ranking doesn’t suggest a lot of change has happened. Although the report suggests growth of 0.110.
